Heyworth, Tremont Share HOIC Boys Basketball Title
Heyworth and Tremont both finished with 11-1 records to share the HOIC Boys Basketball regular season title. It's the first HOIC title for Heyworth in Boys Basketball. It is Tremont's 3rd title (all shared) and first since the 2007-2008 season. Congratulations to both teams and best of luck to all HOIC teams in the postseason.
Tremont Girls Basketball Wins Regular Season Title With 12-0 Record
The Tremont girls basketball team won four games over three days to cap off an undefeated 12-0 conference season and win the 2013-14 regular season title. Tremont dethroned El Paso-Gridley, who had won the last three regular season crowns and the last four conference tournaments.
Tri-Valley Football Finishes as 1A State Runner-Up
Tri-Valley lost a tough one to Lena-Winslow 28-21 at the IHSA Class 1A Football State Championship Friday Nov. 29th at NIU's Huskie Stadium in DeKalb to finish as state runner-up. The loss was the Vikings' first in what was a tremendous season. Tri-Valley is now the second HOIC football team to claim a state trophy since the conference began play in 2006. Lexington was the 1A runner-up in 2009. Congratulations to Tri-Valley for representing the HOIC so well throughout their great playoff run.
EPG Girls Win 4th Straight Tourney Title, Blue Ridge Boys Take Boys Title in OT
The top-seeded El Paso-Gridley girls basketball team won its fourth consecutive McLean County Tournament championship 60-48 over #2 Tremont on Saturday January 25th at IWU's Shirk Center. In other girls games on the final day, #4 Tri-Valley defeated #3 Fieldcrest 54-51 in overtime to take third place while #7 Fisher downed #9 FCW 47-35 in the 5th place game. #8 Lexington handled #11 Heyworth 53-36 in the consolation championship.
On the boys side, #7 Blue Ridge overcame a furious fourth-quarter rally by top-seeded Ridgeview to win its first title since 1988 with a late three-point basket in overtime, 57-56. #3 Tremont downed #4 EPG 55-51 in the third place game, #9 Fieldcrest won the 5th place game 59-45 over #2 Heyworth, and #10 Flanagan-Cornell defeated #8 GCMS 66-57 to win the consolation championship in the battle of the Falcons.

Dee-Mack, Fieldcrest Volleyball Earn State Hardware
Dee-Mack defeated fellow HOIC member Fieldcrest in the IHSA 2A Volleyball Third Place Match, following up last year's state championship with a third place finish this year and an overall record of 37-2. Fieldcrest earned the 4th place trophy and finished the season 33-6-1 with three of those losses coming to Dee-Mack. Congratulations to both schools for representing the HOIC in a fine manner.
