The 2022 McLean County Basketball Tournament took place Jan. 15-22.

GIRLS — On the girls side, top-seeded Fieldcrest defeated #3 Eureka for the title. It was the first time since joining the conference in 2016 that Eureka did not win the championship. #2 Tremont downed #4 Dee-Mack in the 3rd place game. #6 Ridgeview defeated #5 EPG for 5th place. #9 LeRoy won the consolation championship over #11 Fisher.

BOYS — #1 El Paso-Gridley won the boys championship over #2 Eureka. It was EPG’s first tournament title since 2011. #4 LeRoy defeated #3 Flanagan-Cornell to take 3rd place while #9 Heyworth downed #10 Tremont in the 5th place game. #8 Tri-Valley defeated #7 GCMS in the consolation championship.

With the fall sports season completed and winter sports beginning, here are the conference champions from the fall season:

Golf — El Paso-Gridley (boys), Eureka (girls)
Football — Tri-Valley (large), Ridgeview-Lexington (Small)
Volleyball — Tremont (Regular Season), Eureka (Tournament)

2021 McLean County/HOIC Volleyball Tournament

The bracket is set for the 2021 McLean County/HOIC Volleyball Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Dee-Mack High School and take place Tuesday 10/19, Thursday 10/21, and Saturday 10/23. The three top seeds have first round byes — #1 Tremont, #2 Tri-Valley, and #3 Eureka. Good luck to all teams!

Ridgeview High School and HOIC legend Rodney Kellar was named the 2021 recipient of the Chuck Rolinski Lifetime Achievement Award by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. Congratulations Coach Kellar!

Two former HOIC athletic directors were recently inducted into the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame. Charlie Lockenour (Heyworth) and Dan Wieczorek (Fieldcrest) earned this honor after years of service to their schools and profession. Congratulations to two very deserving hall of famers.
